OPERA seminar on patent issues

We had a special guest, Prof. Shingo Fuchi, from Nagoya University. He has been working at the Japan Governmental Patent Office as an examiner. His talk was not only how to prepare patent documents but also how examiners deal with patent documents. I again convinced that patent issues are a quite another world from scientific works, although we have to correspond it practically. Scientists should start discussion to change the patent system in Japan.
PS: Second party was so exciting that we almost missed the last train!

We had visitors from Tosu city, the councilors, and exchanged the future prospect of organic electronics from both academic and industrial aspects. Now it is quite important to incubate organic electronics as a next generation industry.

Kumamoto-Fukuoka Joiunt Symposium

We had a joint seminar between Kumamoto and OPERA researchers, aimed for future joint research project. Mr. Nakamura, the previous vice-president of SONY, kindly attended our seminar and dinner. We spent a fruitful time to understand each other and confirmed strong passion for organic electronics. I expect Kyushu island will lead researches of organic electronics!

2nd Asian Conference on Organic Electronics@Seoul National University

Last week, we hold the 2nd ACOE in SNU. The number of attendee from Korea, Taiwan and Japan was exceeded over 100. While the conference was compact, we focused on discussions on our recent results through not only the single session of oral presentation but also lunch, dinner and coffee breaks. I felt that scientific quality in Korean Universities is quite high and actually the great success in OLED business accelerates R&D in Korea. In Japan, on the other hand, we faced on many problems such as an aging society with a low birthrate, the strong yen-caused recession, and reduced motivation for science and technologies in young generation. We need to establish a novel national strategy to work with other countries.

Class reunion of elementary school

Class Reunion of Elementary School After 35 Years...@Tokyo, Ichigaya
It is my personal issue. But I would like to note it since my heart was really moved. Last weekend I met with my old friends, Hiroshi, Hide, Noriko, Yumiko and Yasuyo and others at the class reunion of my elementary school after 35 Years...! They are all my good friends, doing very well! We have not met for 35 years after the graduation in 1976. It is really long time ago. Although it was not a
wealth period, we enjoyed our daily school life and our heart were full of dreams and hopes. I suppose that my scientific mind and the way of thinking were established through the relationship with them. They are my precious treasure!
